The Nickel City Chefs

Our Nickel City Chefs are prepared to compete against challengers from all over Western New York!

Meet the Nickel City Chefs:

Adam Goetz is the chef/owner of SAMPLE, a restaurant with a delightful,  contemporary approach and a menu that focuses on seasonal flavors and local produce. At every Nickel City Chef competition, he is assisted in the kitchen by Sous Chef James Gehrke.

Brian Mietus is the Executive Chef and managing partner of Bacchus Wine Bar, one of Buffalo’s finest restaurants. At every Nickel City Chef competition, he is assisted in the kitchen by Sous Chef Ronald Rytel.

JJ Richert is chef and owner of Torches, a restaurant known for whimsical and adventurous twists on deftly prepared classics. At every Nickel City Chef competition, he is assisted in the kitchen by his brother and business partner, Chef Kevin Richert.

Krista Van Wagner is chef and owner of Curly’s Grill, a venerable eatery with a penchant for Caribbean flavors. At every Nickel City Chef competition, she is assisted in the kitchen by her husband and business partner, Chef Kirk Van Wagner.
