Hosts

WBFO’s own Bert Gambini will host each of this summer’s Nickel City Chef events.  A consummate foodie and well-loved local radio personality, Bert brings his enthusiasm for  Buffalo’s chefs and restaurants to the Nickel City Chef project.

Bert Gambini is a 20-year veteran of Buffalo radio.  He started his career as a news writer/anchor at WHLD in Niagara Falls, before moving to a similar position at WBEN.  In 1993, he was hired by WBFO as the local host of the station’s presentation of National Public Radio’s Weekend Edition.  Three years later, Bert assumed the Music Director’s position and since 1996, in addition to his programming responsibilities, has hosted a daily jazz show on WBFO.  In 1999, Bert introduced WBFO’s Meet the Author series which brings contemporary non-fiction writers to Buffalo-Niagara.

Chef Mike Andrzejewski will bring technical knowledge and colorful insight to each event as Bert Gambini’s co-host.

Chef Michael Andrzejewski made a name for himself in Buffalo’s most prestigious kitchens including Oliver’s, Warren’s, and the Rue Franklin.  In 2001, Mike and is wife Sherri opened the elegantly appointed Tsunami, but now this seasoned restaurant veteran is surfing smaller waves at the intimate Seabar where he combines traditional sushi bar elements with fine dining.  He has presented three dinners at the James Beard Foundation and has cooked for many charitable events nationwide.  As an instructor at ECC ’s culinary program , Mike continues his commitment to the food world by training and teaching young culinarians.
